Reason Math
a Poem by Zim Olson
If I were a reason,
what would I be?
I probably would not be free?
And can a reason see?
A reason is not alone.
A lonely reason? An unlikely event.
It does not have a heart of stone.
And is not a non-rational emotion in vent.
But take a set of One Reason,
all by itself.
It's non intersection,
a pure matter of stealth and ill health.
The truth of it all....
has more than one reason.
Not nearly containable.
And nowhere enough stable.
A set of true reasons,
aren't sitting there freezin.
For reasons also have their seasons.
So mathematically stated,
no reason should be hated.
It is the application that should be calculated and
rated.
The reason cannot sit in a crate and be sent via second
class freight.
It needs another friend or reason to Set him straight.
Two reasons beget another reason.
This is the only mathematical thing fore sure.
Not a reason for intellectual fore-closure.
For a lone reason, all by itself.
Gets dusty on a existential shelf.
What kind of debate,
would any one reason rate.
So if you ever think you know the True reason.
Maybe it has a mate,
giving a new existential state and
better fate.
As far as Mathematics goes,
An old equation but a new reason,
makes the intellect flow.
As most of us know.
And finding another would be no intellectual treason.
For there are no lone true reasons,
Just their infinite domain,
which keeps us all sane.
In our intellectual Seasonal change.
